Affiliate of the Year
The Habitat for Humanity of Michigan Affiliate of the Year Award will be presented annually to ONE Habitat Michigan Affiliate for significant accomplishments that have advanced the mission of Habitat for Humanity. The selection process and determination of the $2,500 award is based on the numbered criteria below and a scoring tool:
1) Volunteer Impact
2) Families Served
3) Fund Raising Activities
4) Advocacy
5) Community Partnerships
6) Best Practices
The Habitat for Humanity of Michigan Homeowner Partner of the Year Award will be presented annually to ONE Habitat Michigan homeowner for significant accomplishments that have advanced the mission of Habitat for Humanity. The award will honor a homeowner/family that has firmly established themselves in the local community and demonstrated that the family is an exceptional ambassador for Habitat. The award winner’s story will be featured in the banquet program. The winner will be invited to the banquet to be recognized with an award. Travel expenses, including one night stay, will be covered by the banquet income. Affiliates who submit a homeowner for consideration to be nominated are encouraged to invite the homeowner and his or her legislator to the banquet to join the affiliate sponsored table.
The Habitat for Humanity of Michigan Volunteer of the Year Award will be presented annually to ONE Habitat Michigan volunteer (per affiliate location) for significant volunteer accomplishments that have advanced the mission of Habitat for Humanity. The selection process is undertaken by the affiliate’s executive director, his or her board of directors and/or staff.
The affiliate’s selection process should take into consideration:
1) The volunteer’s work and accomplishments over the last fiscal year
2) The volunteer’s ability to inspire and/or lead others
3) The volunteer’s length of service to the affiliate
Award rules stipulate:
1) Affiliates submitting a volunteer must have a currently approved readiness file.
2) Each of the 76 affiliates is allowed to make one selection for Volunteer of the Year.
3) The volunteer selected agrees to a photo and story release.
4) If selected as Volunteer of the Year, the volunteer agrees to attend the banquet to be recognized with their award.
