Habitat Michigan’s AmeriCorps program focuses on helping affiliates engage communities, mobilize volunteers, build capacity and increase productivity.
Our 2010 - 2011 AmeriCorps program supports the following positions:
- Construction Liaisons to ensure the training, safety practices and overall satisfaction of volunteers on a construction site.
- Volunteer Recruiters to form partnerships between their affiliate and local businesses, industries, service groups, churches, and/or community members.
- Family Supporters to create systems, serve as mentors, and implement programs to assist Habitat's partner families in becoming self-sufficient and responsible homeowners.
- Community Outreach and Marketing members to support the development and implementation of a comprehensive community outreach strategy to help Habitat affiliates present their needs in the communities they serve.
- Neighborhood Development Supporters to be liaisons between the Habitat affiliate and community partners and provide project and time-line management, recruiting and scheduling volunteer participation, and detailed reporting back to the funders.
Since 2003, Habitat has had over 240 AmeriCorps members in Michigan. Here are some of their results:
