Global Village

Whether in Zambia, Honduras, Bulgaria or the United States, the Global Village program provides opportunities to become active partners with people of another culture while helping to build simple, decent affordable housing.
2007 Global Village Trips
Along with Archbishop Vicken Aykazian, Rev. Dr. Ken Bensen is planning a Global Village Trip to Armenia (PDF: 33K) for the His Holiness Karekin II Work Project, which will be held August 11-21, 2007.
Teams work alongside homeowners, learn about the local culture, development challenges, and Habitat for Humanity's ministry and mission.
Global Village programs are offered throughout the year, at locations around the world, generally for 1-3 weeks. No construction experience is required. Itineraries include time for home building, resting, and exploring the local community.
Trip costs vary depending on the Global Village trip location. Costs includes room and board, local transportation, traveler health insurance and a donation toward the construction cost of houses built in the host country. Costs do not include airfare.
Reflections from Global Village team members:
Working with Habitat for Humanity has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.
Global Village trips give me a warm feeling that I'm needed and I can help others that can't help themselves due to the facts of life in Honduras. The people are kind and sweet and give so much of themselves. They are so rich in kindness that you don't want to go home.
I went on my first Global Village trip two years ago having no inkling of what to expect. My thoughts after the first day on the work site were that God had priviledged me to be effective as never before. It is my prayer that I will have the opportunity to participate again next year.
