Preserving and Maintaining Homes

Habitat for Humanity offers programs in Michigan that assist low-income homeowners with critical home repairs, with priority given to health and safety within the home. Through these programs, we address repair needs that might otherwise compromise the well-being of individuals and families. From fixing structural issues to ensuring essential systems function optimally, the goal is to create homes where safety and health are not compromised by repair needs. Our mission is to empower homeowners by providing the support they need to create a secure and healthy living space they can truly call their own.

Home Repair

Habitat for Humanity of Michigan has partnered with MSHDA and Consumers Energy to address safe and healthy housing solutions for low-income homeowners. With this program, a qualified expert assesses the home for any hazards that threaten the occupants. This assessment highlights the urgent and important repairs needed. Those repairs are prioritized to ensure the home is safe for the occupants to live in.

From fixing structural issues to ensuring essential systems function optimally, the goal is to create homes where safety and health are not compromised by home repair needs. This program allows Michigan families to be able to focus on thriving in their homes, assists aging Michiganders to be able to remain in their homes longer, and preserves the homes in local communities.

Veterans Home Repair and Maintenance Program

In partnership with HUD, Habitat for Humanity of Michigan has established a specialized initiative aimed at supporting veterans by offering essential repairs and modifications to their homes. The program stands ready to assist with a spectrum of needs, whether it's addressing critical structural concerns like roof or mechanical repairs, or tailoring homes to accommodate disabilities. We understand the sacrifices made in service, and through this program, we strive to honor and give back to our veterans by ensuring their homes provide safety, comfort, and accessibility.

Contact your local Habitat for Humanity for more information on qualification criteria and to apply for this program.
