Consumers Energy Hits a Home Run for Habitat for Humanity

Pledges up to $100,000 to Match Donations for Home Run for Habitat Campaign

Consumers Energy is contributing up to $100,000 to match Michigan residents’ contributions to this year’s Home Run for Habitat fundraising campaign, benefiting Habitat for Humanity organizations throughout Michigan. This program supports a relationship to provide energy-efficient housing across the state. Consumers Energy has made over $1 million in contributions to Habitat for Humanity of Michigan since 2001.

“Consumers Energy is committed to helping Michigan residents obtain safe, affordable housing, and we are pleased to continue our support for Home Run for Habitat,” said Lauren Youngdahl Snyder, Consumers Energy’s vice president for customer experience. “Housing is the foundation for stable Michigan communities, and we hope Michigan residents will again step up to the plate with this campaign.”

Consumers Energy is matching $1 for every $2 that the public donates to the Home Run for Habitat campaign during this Detroit Tigers season, up to $100,000. On Saturday, Consumers Energy presented a check representing last year’s Home for Habitat contributions at the Tigers home game at Comerica Park. Representatives from Habitat for Humanity of Oakland County were at the game to accept the check. Habitat Oakland County raised the most money of all the participating teams in the 2017 campaign.

“We are so grateful for the support of Consumers Energy through the Home Run for Habitat campaign. We’ve been able to leverage supporting contributions to a greater extent because of this partnership. Thank you, Consumers Energy and Habitat for Humanity of Michigan, for this effort that helps us impact even more families in Oakland County,” says Tim Ruggles, Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity of Oakland County.

Since its launch in 2012, the Home Run for Habitat campaign has raised over $1 million supporting sustainable housing in Michigan.
