Habitat for Humanity of Michigan Launches Power of Home Campaign
Consumers Energy, SEMCO Energy, and UPPCO Join Forces to Commit $110,000 in Match Funding, Setting a $330,000 Collective Fundraising Goal for Affordable Housing Across Michigan
LANSING, MI — Habitat for Humanity of Michigan has launched the 2026 Power of Home fundraising campaign, now underway from April 7 through July 31, 2026, in partnership with founding sponsor Consumers Energy and two new match funding partners, SEMCO Energy and UPPCO. Every dollar donated to the campaign is matched at 50%, meaning a $100 donation becomes $150 in support of affordable housing for Michigan families.
Consumers Energy has committed $100,000 in matching funds as the campaign’s founding partner. This year, SEMCO Energy and UPPCO have each contributed $5,000 in match funding, bringing the total match pool to $110,000. With the match applied, Habitat for Humanity of Michigan has set a collective fundraising goal of $330,000 to support affordable housing efforts statewide. Since its inception in 2013, the Power of Home campaign has raised more than $3.6 million to help Habitat for Humanity affiliates across Michigan serve families in need.
“The Power of Home campaign is a powerful reminder of what becomes possible when the private sector invests in the people and communities it serves,” said Don Wilkinson, President and CEO of Habitat for Humanity of Michigan. “We are deeply grateful to Consumers Energy for their years of founding partnership, and we are thrilled to welcome SEMCO Energy and UPPCO to the campaign this year.”
“When families have a safe, affordable place to call home, everything else becomes possible. That’s why our partnership with Habitat for Humanity matters so much. Together, we’re helping Michigan families achieve stability today and prosperity for generations to come. We are proud to, once again, stand alongside Habitat for Humanity in supporting and investing in the communities and neighborhoods we serve,” said Angela Thompkins, Vice President of External Affairs and Media Relations at Consumers Energy.
With Habitat for Humanity affiliates in every region of the state participating in this campaign, matching funds will be distributed across Michigan. Donors are encouraged to give now while match funds remain available. Once the $110,000 match pool is exhausted, additional donations will still support the mission but will no longer receive a match.
