Habitat for Humanity of Michigan Announces CEO Transition

LANSING, MI – JULY 26, 2024 – Habitat for Humanity of Michigan today announced that John Williams, President and CEO, will be stepping down from his role to become the CEO of Akron Urban League. John will continue to serve as Habitat Michigan’s CEO through August 23, 2024.

During his two-year tenure, John has led Habitat for Humanity of Michigan with distinction, strengthening partnerships, expanding the organization’s reach, and improving operational efficiency. His leadership has been instrumental in advancing the mission of providing affordable housing solutions across Michigan.

“We are grateful for John’s dedication and the positive impact he has made on our organization and the Habitat affiliates and communities we serve,” said Carolyn Bloodworth, Chair of the Board of Directors. “While we will miss his leadership, we support his decision to pursue this new opportunity and wish him the very best in his future endeavors.”

The Board of Directors will be meeting next week to make decisions regarding an interim CEO and to develop a transition plan. A search for a permanent replacement will be initiated shortly thereafter.

“It has been an honor to serve as CEO of Habitat for Humanity of Michigan,” said John Williams. “I’m proud of the progress we’ve made together and confident that the organization will continue to thrive in its mission of building strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter.”

Habitat for Humanity of Michigan remains committed to its mission and will continue its important work throughout this leadership transition.
