Habitat for Humanity of Michigan Names Latasha Tarver-Caldwell of Detroit as 2025 Homeowner of the Year
LANSING, Mich. — August 29, 2025 — Habitat for Humanity of Michigan is proud to announce that Latasha Tarver-Caldwell of Detroit has been named the 2025 Homeowner of the Year. Her home, built alongside Habitat for Humanity Detroit, represents the strength of her journey and the community that came together to help make it possible.
The Homeowner of the Year Award is presented annually to a Habitat homeowner who exemplifies the mission of Habitat for Humanity through their commitment, leadership, and contributions to their community. Tarver-Caldwell was selected from nominations across the state for her outstanding character, advocacy, and dedication to both her neighborhood and fellow Habitat families.

In addition to creating a stable foundation for her family, Tarver-Caldwell has become a role model within her community. She continues to give back by supporting other Habitat homeowners, engaging in local initiatives, and using her journey to inspire others pursuing affordable housing.
Tarver-Caldwell will be honored during the Habitat for Humanity of Michigan Affiliates in Motion Conference Awards Banquet on October 29, 2025, at Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. She will also share her story through a video testimonial, highlighting the impact of Habitat homeownership.
The award comes with a $1,500 prize granted to the Habitat Detroit affiliate, recognizing the shared commitment of homeowners and affiliates working together to advance affordable housing across Michigan.
