State Employees Join Habitat for Humanity Affiliates for 9/11 Day of Service
LANSING, MI – September 11, 2025: In recognition of the National Day of Service and Remembrance, state employees from the Michigan Department of Labor & Economic Opportunity (LEO), the Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA), and the Michigan Community Service Commission partnered with several Habitat for Humanity affiliates for a statewide volunteer effort.
Teams of volunteers spent the day building and repairing homes to honor the spirit of service inspired by September 11. These efforts support Habitat for Humanity’s mission of bringing people together to build homes, communities, and hope.
Media Event at Habitat for Humanity Capital Region
As part of the day’s activities, a special media event was hosted at Habitat for Humanity Capital Region, featuring remarks from leaders of each participating organization. Speakers included:

- Amy Hovey, CEO & Executive Director, Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA)
- Ginna Holmes, Executive Director, Michigan Community Service Commission
